Shaheen, Haris, Naseem achieved career best ODI ranking

Pakistan’s star fast bowlers, including Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah, have seen improvements in their International Cricket Council (ICC) one-day international (ODI) rankings.

Afridi, the leader of the pace attack, has climbed four places to fifth overall after taking six wickets in Pakistan’s first two matches at the Asia Cup 2023. In the meantime, Rauf has jumped 14 spots to share the 29th position, and Naseem Shah has risen by 13 places to reach 68th, both achieving new career-high ratings due to their strong performances.

Additionally, India’s emerging talents, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan, have achieved their highest-ever ratings. The ICC noted, “While Babar still maintains a substantial lead at the top of the ODI batting rankings, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan have made significant progress in chasing the Pakistan skipper following their impressive performances at the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.”

Gill’s unbeaten 67* in a crucial match against Nepal propelled him to a career-best rating of 750 points, securing the third spot in the ODI batting rankings, just weeks before the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Kishan’s outstanding 82 against Pakistan in Pallekele earned him a new career-best rating of 624 points and a 12-place jump to 24th in the updated ODI batting rankings.
