Ahmedabad, India: In the most highly anticipated match of the ICC World Cup, India emerged victorious by defeating Pakistan with a margin of 7 wickets.
Pakistan set a target of 193 runs, which India achieved with ease, losing only 3 wickets in 30.3 overs. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli contributed 16 and 16 runs, respectively, while Rohit Sharma led the way with a score of 86 runs before getting out.
Shikhar Dhawan scored 53, and KL Rahul scored 19 runs before remaining not out. For Pakistan, Shadab Khan took 2 wickets, and Hasan Ali claimed 1. Jasper Bumrah bowled a superb spell for India, leaving an indelible mark on the match.
The match took place at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, during the 12th match of the ICC World Cup. Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled to make a strong start, with both openers, Abdullah Shafique (20) and Imam-ul-Haq (36), returning to the pavilion early.
Captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan attempted to stabilize the innings, with a partnership of 82 runs, but Babar was dismissed after scoring 50 runs, while Rizwan added 49 runs.
After that, no Pakistani batsman could withstand the challenge presented by the Indian bowlers. Saud Shakeel scored 6, Iftikhar Ahmed managed 4, Shadab Khan scored 2, Mohammad Nawaz contributed 4, Hasan Ali added 12, and Haris Rauf scored 2 runs before being dismissed.
On the Indian side, Mohammed Siraj, Jasper Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Ravindra Jadeja each claimed 2 wickets, showing their prowess in the bowling department.
