As the ICC Cricket World Cup gathers momentum, Pakistan’s team director Mickey Arthur is gearing up for a pivotal clash against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, with the former coach’s extensive knowledge of his Asian rivals expected to be a significant advantage.
Arthur, who led Sri Lanka among December 2019 and November 2021, has intimate knowledge of the Sri Lankan crew’s “strengths and weaknesses.”
“Yeah, I know their strengths and weaknesses so we will have plans put in place for all of them,” Arthur shared with AFP.
The clash with Sri Lanka comes after Pakistan’s victory against the Netherlands in a nerve-wracking encounter just a few days ago.
In light of their previous performance, Pakistan is expected to maintain the same line-up for Tuesday’s match. This decision could extend a lifeline to opener Fakhar Zaman, who had an underwhelming start to the tournament, scoring just 12 runs against the Netherlands.
“I am no longer concerned about his form; he is a superb participant and is just one innings far from a large score,” Arthur reassured.
As the excitement builds for the Pakistan vs. Sri Lanka encounter in Hyderabad, cricket enthusiasts around the world are eagerly anticipating the clash between these two Asian cricketing giants. With Mickey Arthur’s insider knowledge and a rejuvenated Pakistani side, the stage is set for a thrilling showdown that could shape the course of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.
