During a pre-departure press convention in Lahore earlier than heading to India for the ICC World Cup 2023, Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, addressed rumors of a supposed “war of words” with rapid bowler Shaheen Afridi.
A journalist inquired about these rumors and also mentioned that the team had a lot of respect for Babar as their captain.
Babar responded by acknowledging the respect he receives from the team and mentioned that disagreements can naturally arise in team meetings, especially after close losses like the one they experienced in the Asia Cup.

However, he clarified that these disagreements have been blown out of percentage, and there was no actual dispute among him and Shaheen Afridi.
Babar emphasized that the group members have a deep appreciate for every other and examine every other as own family, reinforcing the high quality bond in the team.
