On Wednesday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that four Pakistani soldiers had lost their lives while defending two military checkpoints near the Afghanistan border in the Kalash region of District Chitral.
According to the ISPR statement, on September 6, 2023, a significant number of well-armed terrorists launched an attack on these Pakistani military posts situated close to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The soldiers displayed great courage in repelling the attacks and inflicted substantial casualties on the terrorists.
During the intense firefight, 12 terrorists were killed, and many others sustained critical injuries. The military’s media wing also mentioned that they had identified and promptly shared information about the terrorists’ movement and concentration in various areas of Nuristan and Kunar provinces in Afghanistan, including Gawardesh, Pitigal, Barg-e-Matel, and Batash.
The ISPR highlighted that their own military posts were already on high alert due to the heightened threat level. They are currently conducting operations to clear the area of any remaining terrorists.
The statement emphasized the unwavering determination of Pakistan’s security forces to eradicate the menace of terrorism, with the sacrifices of their soldiers further bolstering their resolve. It also noted the steadfast support of the people of Chitral in standing alongside the security forces to maintain peace in the region.
The ISPR concluded by expressing expectations that the interim Afghan government would fulfill its responsibilities and prevent the use of Afghan territory by terrorists for carrying out acts of terrorism against Pakistan.
