Both public and private schools in Karachi and the entire Sindh province will be closed on Thursday, September 7, in observance of Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA), as announced by the provincial government on Tuesday.
A notification was issued, stating that the decision to close educational institutions was made by a steering committee within the provincial education department.
The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) is a significant religious event, and it will be observed on Thursday throughout the province with great religious fervor and respect, with heightened security measures in place.
This occasion marks the conclusion of a 40-day mourning period following the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 companions in the Battle of Karbala, which took place on the 10th of Muharram in the year 680 AD. Various cities across the province will witness mourning processions featuring Alam, Tazia, and Zuljinah.
Stringent security arrangements have been implemented to ensure the safety of the Chehlum processions.
