The Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad has granted bail to human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari. Her bail was approved upon the submission of surety bonds amounting to Rs10,000.
Imaan Mazari’s bail was granted in a case that had been registered at the Bhara Kahu police station under terrorism-related provisions. The proceedings for this case were presided over by Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain.
Furthermore, the Islamabad High Court has issued an order preventing Imaan from being arrested in any other case. This decision came in response to a lawyer’s application expressing concerns that she might face another arrest after being granted bail in a third case. The court has also directed the interior secretary, the police, and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) not to assist security forces from any other province in her arrest.
Additionally, the court has instructed the interior secretary, the Islamabad police chief (IGP), and the FIA to ensure that Imaan Mazari is not taken beyond the jurisdiction of Islamabad.
