The Model Court for Sexual Violence in Lahore has handed down a death sentence to an individual convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl.
Judge Mian Shahid Javed, presiding over the case, delivered the verdict, sentencing the accused, Rafiq, to death.
Furthermore, the court has mandated that the accused must also pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the victim’s daughter. In the event of non-compliance with this compensation order, the offender will be subjected to an additional 6 months of imprisonment.
To ensure due process, the court has instructed the jail superintendent not to execute the death sentence until receiving confirmation from the High Court.
It is important to note that Rafiq was initially charged in March 2019 by the Satwa Katla police station.
