British police have released new photographs and renewed their request for information regarding the death of a 10-year-old girl, whose father is set to face trial for her murder. Sara Sharif’s lifeless body was discovered at her family’s residence in southern England on August 10. A post-mortem examination revealed that Sharif had suffered “multiple and extensive injuries” over an extended period.
Charges of murder and causing or permitting the death of a child have been filed against her father, stepmother, and uncle. They are scheduled to stand trial in the upcoming autumn season.
Surrey Police stated that they are releasing these new images “as part of our ongoing effort to gather information that will help us understand her life leading up to the discovery of her body.” They hope that these photos, which depict Sara as she may have appeared in the months before her death, will encourage more individuals to come forward with information about her and her family.
Among the images, one shows Sharif wearing a black hijab, possibly from a school photo, while the other shows her in a blue hijab.
Sara’s father, Urfan Sharif (41), his partner Beinash Batool (29), and his brother Faisal Malik (28), traveled to Pakistan the day before her body was discovered. An early morning emergency call reporting Sara’s death was made from Pakistan by a man who identified himself as her father, according to detectives.
After spending a month in South Asia, they returned to the UK on September 13 and were arrested upon arrival at London’s Gatwick Airport. They have been held in custody and are scheduled to appear in court on December 1 for a plea hearing.
Their trial is set to commence on September 2, 2024, and is anticipated to last for six weeks.
