Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2’ release date announced

The highly anticipated sequel, “Pushpa 2: The Rule,” starring Allu Arjun, is scheduled to make its theatrical debut on August 15, 2024. This film serves as the follow-up to the 2021 hit “Pushpa: The Rise,” which received National Awards for ‘Best Actor’ and ‘Best Music Director.’

Mythri Movie Makers, the production company behind the original blockbuster, has officially announced the release date via social media. Directed by Sukumar, “Pushpa 2” will feature Fahadh Faasil reprising his role as SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat and Rashmika Mandanna returning as Molleti Srivalli.

Recapping “Pushpa: The Story So Far”:

“Pushpa: The Rise” hit theaters in December 2021, a time when there was uncertainty about returning to cinemas. The film played a significant role in luring audiences back to the silver screen.

Set in the 1990s, “Pushpa” revolves around the red sandalwood mafia and the ascent of Pushpa, portrayed by Allu Arjun, within the smuggling world. The film also weaves in a romantic subplot between Pushpa and Srivalli, played by Rashmika Mandanna.

However, the equilibrium is disrupted when Fahadh Faasil’s character, Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, assumes the role of SP in the region. A tense confrontation between the two characters culminates with Pushpa compelling the SP to strip, asserting that his authority stemmed solely from his uniform, while Pushpa had achieved success through his own efforts.

The film concludes on a cliffhanger with Fahadh Faasil’s character vowing vengeance against Pushpa. Fans have eagerly awaited the continuation of the story, making “Pushpa 2” one of the most anticipated films. This sequel marks Allu Arjun’s return to the big screen after a hiatus of over two years, with the original “Pushpa” being his last film.
