Elon Musk has officially confirmed the birth of his third child with his former partner, Grimes, and just like their previous children, the name they’ve chosen is quite unique. Musk, who owns the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), shared this news on a Sunday.
The newly born child has been named Tau Techno Mechanicus, as revealed in Musk’s response to a post by the entertainment news account Pop Base. This post listed the names of Musk and Grimes’ three children as “X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, Techno Mechanicus.”
The existence of this child had been kept secret until recently. Although Musk and Grimes parted ways in September 2021, Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, has described their relationship status as “very fluid.”
In a March 2022 interview with Vanity Fair, she disclosed that Exa Dark Sideræl Musk was born via surrogate in December 2021. Interestingly, the couple hadn’t originally planned to announce the birth of their second child, playfully referred to as “Y.” However, Grimes shared the news when Vanity Fair journalist Devin Gordon overheard the sound of a baby crying.
Prior to the birth of Tau Techno Mechanicus, Grimes and Musk welcomed their first child, a son named X Æ A-Xii, in May 2020. Additionally, Musk, who is 48 years old, has five other children—twins Griffin and Vivian, as well as triplets Damian, Saxon, and Kai—from a previous marriage.
