The Jawan trailer has been released, and it has lived up to our expectations. The trailer kicks off with a narration by Shah Rukh Khan, who introduces us to the story of a man, referred to as a “king,” who has faced a series of defeats and is seething with anger.
We then learn about an enraged young man who is taking control of Mumbai, and that young man is none other than Shah Rukh Khan himself, portraying the character of Jawan. So, what does he desire? In a playful manner, he quips that he wants Alia Bhatt, but for now, he’s focused on his masterplan (more on that later). However, there’s one obstacle standing in his way – Nayanthara.
Challenging this powerhouse won’t be a walk in the park, as demonstrated by Deepika Padukone warning Jawan, played by SRK, that he will be defeated by her, and indeed he is. “I lost to you ages ago,” he concedes. This scene is guaranteed to send shivers down your spine. When Shah Rukh Khan transforms into a villain, mercy is nowhere to be found. But wait, there’s another antagonist in the mix – have you met Vijay Sethupathi’s character Kalee, who is described as the “fourth largest weapon dealer in the world” and is ready to go to any lengths to protect his business empire?
The trailer concludes with a glimpse into Jawan’s background – his days as a soldier and poignant flashbacks of his mother’s suffering. He expresses his willingness to sacrifice his life countless times, but only for the sake of his country. The trailer leaves us with one final question from Nayanthara: What else does he desire? A song, as the iconic “Ramaiya Vastavaiya” begins to play.
Sharing the trailer on social media, SRK wrote, “Of justice and a Jawan. Of women and their vengeance. Of a mother and a son. And of course, a lot of Fun! Ready Ahhh. JawanTrailer out now. Jawan releases worldwide on 7th September 2023 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.”
