Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has denied releasing a schedule for gas supply in the upcoming winter season.
A spokesperson emphasized that the information circulating on electronic and social media regarding this schedule is false. The company is committed to ensuring a steady gas supply to its consumers.
This denial comes in response to media reports suggesting that the government is preparing to implement a significant increase in gas tariffs. According to official sources, the proposed tariff hike is substantial and includes a 129% increase for domestic consumers.
The Ministry of Energy has prepared a detailed working paper outlining the planned tariff adjustments, with the following key highlights:
A substantial 136% increase for commercial customers
A 71% increase for the export industry
A 117% increase for industrial users
A significant 144% hike in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) tariffs
A 25% increase for bulk consumers
An imposing 193% increase for the cement industry
It’s important to note that these tariff changes will only be implemented after official approval. The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) and the federal cabinet will review and authorize these new rates, and the rollout is scheduled for October 1 on a nationwide basis.
Furthermore, the government is considering keeping the tariff unchanged for protected domestic consumers and tandoor operations. Additionally, there is a contemplation of increasing the fixed monthly charges for domestic users from a nominal Rs10 to a more substantial Rs400.
