In the thrilling ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 match at Ahmedabad, India beat Pakistan by seven wickets.

Despite getting off to a promising start, the Pakistani batsmen faced a tough challenge as they struggled to maintain their momentum, losing wickets rapidly and managing to score only 191 runs in 42.5 overs.

A pivotal moment in the 13th over was when Hardik Pandya, representing Team India, made a significant breakthrough. He dismissed the Pakistani opener, Imam ul Haq, who was attempting to accelerate the innings.

Pandya bowled a well-executed half-volley in the third delivery of the 13th over. The ball was pitched just outside the off stump, moving away from the batter, and Imam misjudged it.

In an attempt to drive the ball, he unintentionally edged it, and the ball found its way to wicketkeeper KL Rahul.

Following the match, during a post-match conversation on the field, Pandya was asked about his approach on the field. He humorously remarked, “I was trying to motivate myself to bowl in the right areas and avoid overcomplicating things. Basically, I was giving myself a good talking-to (laughs).”
