Turkish interior minister has reported that a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device in front of the ministry building in the Turkish capital, injuring two police officers.
According to Al Jazeera report, there were two attackers involved in the explosions at the ministry building. One of them detonated the bomb, while the other was stopped by security forces.
Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Istanbul, Sinem Koseoglu, mentioned that the explosion occurred at approximately 9:30 am local time. Security measures have been increased around the parliament and interior ministry buildings, which are nearby.
It’s worth noting that the Turkish parliament was resuming its sessions after the summer break, with all parliament members, including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, expected to be present in the afternoon at around 2 pm.
