Pakistan Tops ICC Rankings

On Sunday, Pakistan reclaimed their position as the top-ranked team in One-Day International (ODI) cricket, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings. They achieved this status due to Australia’s recent loss to South Africa.

Despite winning the Asia Cup 2023 and accumulating more points (4,701) than Pakistan, India could not secure the top spot due to having played 41 matches, which is 14 more than Pakistan. However, it’s important to note that Pakistan’s lead is only slight.

With 3,102 points, Pakistan now holds the No.1 spot in the ICC ODI rankings. They have played 27 matches and boast a rating of 115. India closely follows Pakistan with an identical rating of 115 points.

Australia, who were previously ranked No.1, now find themselves at No.3 with 3,166 points and a rating of 113 after their loss to South Africa. The Australian team has participated in 28 matches.

India and Australia are set to face each other in a three-match series starting on September 22, providing them with another chance to vie for the top spot.

The first match will take place in Mohali, followed by the second game in Indore on the 24th, and the final encounter in Baroda on the 27th.
